Gordon Brown visited Weboptimiser today

We were honoured and delighted to receive a call from the PMs Press Office to ask if we would mind if Gordon Brown could come along and visit us in our offices. His press secretary arrived with a policeman to check us out in advance and once the all clear was given the camera crew and entourage arrived.

We are not sure whether the footage of the event will ever be shown - probably on our website - we were asked not to film ourselves, although we were fully equiped with our HD camera crew although we have been promised the footage. We will see.

What was most interesting though was to meet Mr Brown and to see how human he was, he generously talked to the team taking an interest in what they did and he seemed to have a genuine understanding as to what search engine marketing was.

After his walk about he sat down and talked to the directors of Weboptimiser. Gordon spoke about the latest extension of the loan gaurantee scheme and how it applied not only to start ups, but to established companies such as ours too. In addition we learnt that the amounts available ranged from a few thousand to a Million and that the period of payback was flexible too - whether a few weeks or a few years.

That evening David White MD and founder of Weboptimiser was invited to discuss the PM's visit on SKY news.

I was surprised at the level of Gordon Browns interest/understanding in what we do. Perhaps the impact of online and social media accredited to Obahama's election victory is percolating around political circles.
